Master of Science in Food, Nutrition & Dietetics

Bachelor of Science degree in Food, Nutrition & Dietetics or its equivalent, with at least Second-Class Honours (Upper Division). Applicants with second-class honours (Lower Division) with a minimum of two (2) years proven relevant work or research experience may be considered.

Master of Science in Public Health

A holder of Bachelor of Medicine, Dental Surgery, Veterinary Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, environmental health or their equivalents.

OR

Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent with at least an upper second-class-honours in any Biomedical Science discipline (including complimentary medicine) either as a single subject or as one of two science subjects studied to Bachelor of Science degree level. Applicants with a lower second-class-honours with a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience may be considered.

OR

Bachelor of Arts or Science degree or equivalent with at least an upper second-class-honours in any Biomedical Institution Management discipline including Disaster Management. Applicants with a lower second-class-honours with a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience may be considered.

OR

Bachelor of Arts or Science or Bachelor of Education degree with at least an upper second-class honours degree or their equivalent and has majored in the following: Anthropology, Sociology, Environmental Sciences and Behavioural Studies. Applicants with a lower second-class-honours may be considered provided they can produce evidence of proven research ability

Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MB, ChB)

Be a holder of K.C.S.E certificate with a minimum aggregate of C+ or its equivalent qualification with the following cluster alternatives:

Alternative A: Biology B (plain) Chemistry B (plain) Physics/Mathematics B (plain) English/Kiswahili B (plain), or

Alternative B: Biological Sciences B (plain) Physical Sciences B (plain) Mathematics B (plain) English/Kiswahili B (plain)

Be a holder of Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (K.A.C.E) certificate or its equivalent with a minimum of two Principal passes (Chemistry and Biology) and one Subsidiary pass in either Physics/Mathematics;

Be a holder of International Baccalaureate (IB), Grade 5 and above.

Be a holder of a three-year Diploma in Medical Sciences with a minimum of a Credit Pass, from an institution recognized by a relevant Accreditation body in the region; in addition, should have either “O” level Division II or a minimum grade of C+ (plus) in KCSE cluster subjects or its equivalent.

Be a holder of a suitable university degree - in a relevant field and fulfil all other University entrance requirements provided the School of Health and Human Sciences recommends and the Senate approves. In addition, such a graduate shall hold a minimum of Upper Second-Class honours degree (where applicable) in; Biological, Biomedical, Health Sciences or Veterinary Sciences or any other related field.

Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE with at least D+ (plus) in the following mandatory subjects: Biology, Chemistry, English/Kiswahili, and D(plain) in any of the following subjects: Maths, Physics, Home Science, Agriculture, or General Science.

OR

Mean grade of D (plain) and a Certificate in Food Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field, from a recognised institution with two (2) years’ experience in the field of Nutrition.
